2010: New Year Resolution

Lessons learnt from last year’s resolution, some bullet points were too granular and it was quite overestimated. Even to achieve the first one from the list below will spend a whole year diligence. Being concrete and simple first, tweaks could be made in the intermissions.
The most remarkable thing I have learnt in 2009 was the de facto motto for me, the essence of strategy is choosing what not to do. In fact, before I paid some real costs it was almost just an superficial understanding. The start looked like a perfect homerun and it was for a while very possible to keep it for the entire year until troubles broke out in the middle of the year. To now, a relationship was ended, a business was relinquished and a new job has been taken, all these were prices to be paid. Fortunately, I passed it through and survived.

Keeping a low profile and be humble. It took a year to get a significant progress.

Choosing between two paths. I hope I could get an A in a write-up 365 days later.

Settle down a path for the next 2-3 years
Improve my English further (presentation, writing, vocabulary)
Don’t be cynical
Better time management
Financing, save 120,000+ RMB
Keep healthy, go fitness for muscles
Two trips outside of PRC
Make 10+ new friends
Blogging and tweeting more

Retrospect of 2009

Although this is a relatively mundane topic for a blog, it is ineluctable to be written down as well. Looking back to my 2009′s resolution set out 364 days ago, not a very strong finish I have committed. The only purpose for such a write-up is very personal: I want to record it before all memories faded.

My ranking system:

Not done is nothing or almost nothing has been achieved on this item.
Progress is the item has not been fully finished. But some progresses have been made so far.
Done is the item has been finished or on the track. No more extra efforts are required for it.

2009 New Year Resolution:

Principles

You have to have a number of the fortune you want to make. Don’t say “I want to be very rich”. Have a number.
Knowing crystal clear what you have to pay in order to make all these happen. There is no reap without sowing.
Have a deadline to achieve them. Without time table, your boat will never harbor.
A detailed plan. Practical and detailed.
Write them down. Your memory is not as reliable as your writing.
Remind yourself twice a day. In the morning and before the end of the day.

Then I made

Earn 1 million RMB before 26
12 hours per day, over 75 hours per week
Before 2008 Beijing Olympic
Computer graphic or even AI as my job. In the worst case, I will still work in the realm of electric power.

Now the truth told everything. I don’t shame on myself or felt naive at that point in time. Just for now, I prefer to shut up the mouth and kick the ass to hit the road.

I know it was almost an hour (now 2hrs, because of the network lag) late to hash out my new year’s resolution. Still in thinking of having a more fruitful 2009, I would like to put my words here. The purpose is clearly aiming on self-motivation and tracking. Here we go:

Truth be told, I have done this kind of outlook together with conclusive report for myself year in and year out. To austerely following them was that I had never accomplished successfully before and it is exactly the “change” I want to witness by myself in 2009.
